The host and the guest
Host a Business Meal. Lesson 1, 16 min.
A business meal has two roles: the host and the guest. Each role has a few clear duties.
What the host does
In most business settings, the host books the table, arrives first and pays the check.
Settle the roles and the payment before the meal. Do not argue about the check at the table.
What the guest does
The guest follows the host's lead. Let the host guide the seating and order first. Order from the middle of the menu. Do not pick the most costly dish, and do not pick the cheapest one.
Choose the place
Pick a restaurant that suits the talk. Check the noise, the seating and the dietary needs of the guests. Use the listing as a start and confirm with the restaurant.
