Meal cost calculator
A group meal costs about one entree per person at the local price. This tool shows a low, typical and high total from real restaurant entree prices.
How we calculated this
We read the average entree price of every published restaurant in your chosen type that lists one in the same currency. We then take the lowest, the median and the highest price.
We multiply each price by your party size, one entree per person, and round to the nearest whole unit. When you add drinks we raise each total by 30 percent as a rough allowance.
An average entree is a guide, not a menu price. Starters, desserts, tax and tip all sit outside this estimate.
Method checked on 2026-10-09.
This is an estimate, not a quote. Ask the restaurant for menu prices.
Questions
- Where do the prices come from?
- They come from the average entree field on each restaurant listing. Owners and our data sources set this field.
- Why does the estimate change when I pick a type?
- Each type of restaurant has its own price range. The tool uses only the listings in the type you choose.
- Does the estimate include tax and tip?
- No. Tax and tip depend on the restaurant and on where it is, so add them on top.
